GESTRA 17-UNA14-H-025 Float trap type UNA 14h, DN25, PN25

GESTRA UNA 14h type condensate traps (steam traps) are designed for continuous and automatic discharge of condensate (condensed water) from steam systems without live steam loss. The "h" designation indicates that it is optimized for installation in horizontal pipelines. The DN25 (Nominal Diameter 25 mm) and PN25 (Nominal Pressure 25 bar) specifications make it ideal for applications where steam or condensate operates within a specific flow and pressure range.

Primary areas of application include:

  • Steam Processes: Condensate discharge from heat exchangers, steam-heated tanks, drying cylinders, steam boilers, steam lines, and general steam process equipment. Especially where continuous and reliable discharge is required, even with frequent load and pressure fluctuations.
  • Heating Systems: Condensate management in central heating systems of large residential and commercial buildings, steam radiators, and heating coils.
  • Food and Beverage Industry: Condensate discharge in steam sterilization and heating processes, compliant with hygienic requirements.
  • Chemical and Petrochemical Industry: Reliable condensate discharge in process heating, reactor heating, and other steam-operated systems.
  • Textile Industry: In drying and dyeing machines that use steam.
  • Pharmaceutical Industry: In sterile steam applications and process heating.

The GESTRA UNA 14h is particularly efficient in systems that require discharge of large quantities of condensate or where pressure fluctuations occur.

GESTRA UNA 14h (17-UNA14-H-025) is a ball float steam trap equipped with a rolling ball valve. This design ensures continuous and precise condensate discharge, independent of back pressure. The "h" indicates that the valve is specifically configured for easy installation in horizontal pipelines. The valve operates with a float mechanism that opens and closes depending on the condensate level. As the condensate level rises, the float also rises, increasing the valve opening to allow condensate discharge; when the level drops, the valve closes, preventing live steam loss.

The UNA 14 series features corrosion-resistant stainless steel internals and is largely insensitive to dirt, ensuring long-lasting and reliable operation. Its modular design allows for servicing or replacing the internal mechanism without removing the main body from the pipeline. Furthermore, it typically includes a thermostatic air-venting mechanism (Duplex design) to automatically discharge air from steam systems, thereby improving system heating efficiency.

  • Model: UNA 14h
  • Type: Ball Float Steam Trap (Ball Float Type)
  • Nominal Diameter (DN): 25 mm (approx. 1 inch)
  • Nominal Pressure (PN): 25 bar
  • Mounting Position: Optimized for horizontal pipelines due to the "h" code.
  • Operating Principle: Continuous condensate discharge via level-dependent ball float control. Unaffected by back pressure.
  • Air Venting: Usually with an integrated thermostatic automatic air venting mechanism (standard in Duplex design).
  • Internals: Corrosion-resistant stainless steel.
  • Body Material: Typically Carbon Steel (e.g., 1.0460 / C22.8) or ductile iron for PN25.
  • Connection Type: Typically flanged connection (according to DIN PN25), but screwed or socket weld ends may also be available.
  • Sealing: High tightness and low friction due to the rolling ball valve.
  • Advantages: No live steam loss, no condensate banking-up, insensitive to dirt, in-line serviceable (without removing the body from the pipeline), reliable operation even with wide load and pressure fluctuations.
