GESTRA NRG 16-50 L=100/1000 G 3/4 PN40 WATER LEVEL LIMITER
GESTRA NRG 16-50 water level limiter is used as a critical safety component, especially in steam boilers and pressurized hot water installations with high safety standards.
Primary areas of application include:
- Steam Boilers (Low Water Level Protection): Automatically shuts off the heating (burner) when a dangerously low water level occurs in the boiler, preventing overheating and damage. This is vital for boilers that do not require continuous supervision.
- Pressurized Hot Water Installations: Similarly, in pressurized hot water systems, it disables the heat source in the event of a low water level.
- Industrial Process Tanks: Providing a minimum level alarm and shutdown function in process tanks where water level is critical.
- Marine Applications: Special "S" versions (NRG 16-50S) are available for reliable water level limitation even on moving platforms such as ship boilers and offshore platforms.
This electrode offers a high level of safety due to its self-monitoring capability, in accordance with relevant standards (e.g., EN 12952, EN 12953, TRD 604) and safety requirements.
GESTRA NRG 16-50 is a water level electrode operating on the conductivity principle. It functions as a water level limiter in conjunction with a level switch (e.g., GESTRA NRS 1-50). The electrode detects the water level by utilizing the electrical conductivity of the boiler water. When the water level falls below the tip of the electrode, the electrode becomes "dry" and breaks the electrical circuit. This triggers a low water level alarm in the connected level switch and automatically shuts down the heating system (burner).
A key feature of the NRG 16-50 is its self-monitoring function, which triggers an alarm even if the electrode insulation is contaminated, leaks, or if there is a malfunction in the electrical connection. This enhances the fault tolerance and safety of the system. The "L=100/1000" designation indicates that the measuring tip length of the electrode is available in various standard lengths from 100 mm to 1000 mm, or it may be field-adjustable. The G 3/4" threaded connection ensures easy installation. The PN 40 nominal pressure indicates suitability for operating pressures up to 40 bar. The electrode and body are typically made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, ensuring long-lasting and reliable performance.
