GESTRA NRGS 15-1 L=1000mm LEVEL ELECTRODE

GESTRA NRGS 15-1 level electrode is crucial for boiler and plant safety, as well as operational efficiency. Its primary purpose is to detect specific water levels (minimum, maximum, or intermediate levels) and to perform functions such as automatic pump control or alarm activation based on these levels.

Key areas of application include:

  • Steam Boilers:
    • Low Water Level Alarm/Limiter: Detects dangerously low water levels, automatically shutting off the burner to prevent boiler overheating. This is a vital safety function, especially for unattended boiler operations (24/72 hour) in accordance with standards like TRD 604, EN 12952, EN 12953.
    • High Water Level Alarm: Detects excessive water levels in the boiler, preventing overflow or carry-over of water into the steam line.
    • Level Control (Pump On/Off): Automatically controls feedwater pumps to maintain the boiler water level within a specified operating range.
  • Pressurized Hot Water Installations: Provides similar safety and control functions.
  • Condensate and Feedwater Tanks: Monitors water levels in these tanks and controls the automatic operation or shutdown of pumps.
  • Industrial Process Tanks: Used for level detection and control in other process tanks containing conductive liquids.

GESTRA NRGS 15-1 operates on the conductometric measurement principle, meaning it detects the level by utilizing the electrical conductivity of the liquid. This compact system can signal up to four different water levels. It comprises four electrode tips and an integrated level switching controller.

The device's operating principle is as follows: When the electrode tips make contact with water or become exposed from the water (i.e., when they are "wet" or "dry"), the corresponding relay outputs are activated. These relays can be programmed for various functions, such as low-level alarm, high-level alarm, or pump control. Specifically, the functions of electrode tips 1 and 4 are fixed (typically low level and high level alarms), while the other two tips (2 and 3) can be configured via a code switch for various pump control (on/off, time-delayed) or additional low-level alarm functions.

The 1000 mm electrode length refers to the standard length of the electrode rod. During installation, these rods can be cut and adjusted on-site to define the desired switching points (alarm or control levels). The NRGS 15-1 offers high reliability and low maintenance requirements due to its lack of moving parts. Furthermore, it ensures a high level of safety through integrated test and reset buttons and self-monitoring functions.
