GESTRA RK 29A Disco non-return valve DN25 fits between flanges EN 1092 form B2

GESTRA RK 29A Disco Non-Return Valve (check valve) is widely used in industrial plants to ensure that fluids such as liquids, gases, and vapors flow in only one direction. Due to its compact design and reliable operating principle, it is a preferred solution in many different applications.

Key areas of application include:

  • Steam and Condensate Systems: Crucial for preventing the backflow of condensed water (condensate) in steam lines and protecting systems and equipment against water hammer caused by sudden pressure changes. This is particularly important at steam trap outlets and in condensate return lines.
  • Hot Water and Heating Systems: Prevents reversal of flow in boilers, heat exchangers, and distribution lines, thereby enhancing system efficiency and ensuring proper equipment operation.
  • Compressed Air and Gas Systems: Used to prevent the backflow of gas from compressor outlets, gas storage tanks, or distribution lines, ensuring system safety and efficiency.
  • Process Industry: Plays a critical role in sectors such as chemical, petrochemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries to ensure the correct directional flow of various fluids and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Pump Protection: Installed in the discharge lines of pumps, it prevents fluid from returning when the pump stops or malfunctions, thereby protecting the pump from damage.
  • Safety in Critical Systems: Used in safety-critical applications to prevent the mixing of two fluids or to maintain pressure in a system.

GESTRA RK 29A is a spring-loaded, disc-type (Disco) non-return valve. The term "Disco" refers to the valve's compact, thin design, which allows it to be installed by being clamped between existing flanges in the pipeline (wafer type). The DN25 nominal diameter specifies the nominal pipe size for the fluid passing through the valve.

This valve closes quickly and reliably when reverse flow begins, thanks to a specially designed internal spring. This spring-loaded mechanism allows the valve to operate smoothly in any mounting position (horizontal, vertical, or angled), offering flexibility in installation. The valve requires a very low opening pressure (typically around 10 mbar), which minimizes energy loss in the system.

Compatibility with EN 1092 Form B2 flanges means the valve can be easily and securely installed between raised-face flanges manufactured according to European standards. This ensures seamless integration, especially in international projects or existing EN-standard piping systems.

The RK 29A is generally manufactured from stainless steel (1.4571 / X6CrNiMoTi17-12-2) for durability and corrosion resistance. This material choice makes the valve suitable for harsh environments such as steam, gases, and various aggressive or high-temperature liquids. The valve features metal-to-metal seating, which provides long-lasting and reliable sealing even under high pressure and temperature conditions.
