GESTRA RK16A PN25-40 DN 100 Disco check valve
GESTRA RK 16A Disco Check Valve DN 100, PN25-40 pressure rating, is a high-performance and durable check valve used in a wide range of industrial applications to ensure that fluids such as liquids, gases, and vapors flow in only one direction. It provides reliable performance, especially in aggressive media and low-temperature conditions. The DN 100 size is designed for larger pipelines and high flow capacities.
Key areas of application include:
- Boiler and Steam Systems: Prevents the backflow of condensed water (condensate) in steam lines or condensate return systems, protecting the system and equipment against water hammer. It is used in large steam main lines and condensate return systems.
- Hot Water and Heating Systems: In large-scale heating systems, boilers, heat exchangers, and main distribution networks, it prevents flow reversal, thereby increasing energy efficiency and extending the lifespan of equipment.
- Compressed Air and Industrial Gas Systems: In large compressor stations and gas distribution networks, it prevents gas backflow, ensuring safe and continuous system operation.
- Process Industry: Guarantees the correct directional flow of various aggressive or high-temperature fluids in sectors such as chemical, petrochemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and power plants, preventing cross-contamination.
- Pump Protection: Installed in the discharge lines of larger industrial pumps, it prevents fluid from returning when the pump stops or malfunctions, protecting the pump from severe damage.
- Cooling Towers and Water Treatment Plants: Controls the direction of flow in large water circuits and filtration systems, ensuring efficiency and the continuity of treatment processes.
GESTRA RK 16A Disco Check Valve DN 100 is a spring-loaded, disc-type (Disco) wafer valve. The term "Disco" emphasizes the valve's compact and lightweight design, which allows it to be easily installed by being clamped between existing flanges in the pipeline (wafer type). The DN 100 nominal diameter indicates that this valve is designed for 100 mm (4-inch) pipelines and is suitable for high flow rates and capacities.
A specially designed internal spring ensures that the valve closes quickly and reliably if the fluid begins to move in the reverse direction. Thanks to this spring-loaded mechanism, the RK 16A can operate flawlessly in any mounting position (horizontal, vertical, or angled), offering great flexibility in installation. The valve requires a very low opening pressure (typically around 5 to 10 mbar); this minimizes pressure loss in the system and, consequently, energy consumption.
The PN25-40 pressure rating indicates that the valve can be safely used within nominal pressure ranges of 25 bar to 40 bar. Made from stainless steel (1.4571 / X6CrNiMoTi17-12-2), the RK 16A is extremely resistant to corrosion, high temperatures, and pressure. This material choice makes it ideal for demanding media such as steam, aggressive gases, and various liquids. The valve typically features metal-to-metal seating, which provides long-lasting and reliable sealing even under high pressure and temperature conditions. Optionally, soft seal options such as EPDM, FPM, or PTFE are available. It offers low maintenance requirements and a long service life.
- Standard: Metallic seating (metal-to-metal seating). Tightness class according to DIN 3230, Part 3, Leakage Rate BN 2, BO 3.
- Optional: Elastic/soft seals such as EPDM, FPM (fluoro rubber), or PTFE (teflon).
- EPDM: -40°C to +150°C (for water, condensate, and steam)
- FPM: -25°C to +200°C (for oils, gases, and air)
